While vinyl liners don’t last forever, there are a few things you can do to maximize the life of your new liner once you get it.
First, keep sharp objects out of your pool. That includes sticks, some tree needles, and other natural debris that could slice open the liner. Vinyl liners are quite durable, but water pressure and stress will ruin them much faster if you puncture them.
Next, limit their exposure to sunlight. Sunlight will interact with the vinyl and slowly degrade it over time. Purchasing a pool cover to use when you’re not going in the pool can drastically reduce the amount of sun your pool receives, and therefore how fast your pool gets damaged.
Finally, maintain the water level. If the water gets too low, the extra weight on the bottom could tear the liner.
